Win a Laptop Skin by SticViews

Transcript of the Win a Laptop Skin by SticViews Video

Hey guys, welcome to Shama.tv. I was recently contacted by a very cool local Dallas company called SticViews, and they do everything from laptop stickers to car graphics – anything that you need to be sticky and promotional, they pretty much do. But what attracted me to them was kind of a couple of reasons. One, it’s a pretty novel idea that when you create something with them, like say you create a laptop sticker or car graphic, they’ll actually let you feature it on their homepage. So free promotion, and I like how they’re blending these social networking aspects.

I’m going to try to see if I can actually get their CEO to come talk with me and talk about how, you know, some of the cool things that they’re doing with their social media strategies. But that’s one of the reasons that I like them.

The second reason is they’re giving you away a laptop sticker today. They’re going to pick someone from the Comments area today to give away a laptop sticker, so be sure to enter your name in the comments. They are not a client. Full disclosure. I’m not an affiliate, not anything like that. I just think they’re doing a pretty cool service and so I wanted to get it out to you guys.

Now, what I did ask the CEO to do was send me kind of five cool alternate ways to promote using something sticky, I suppose. And so he did. He sent me five cool things and I wanted to share those with you. I’m looking at the Email right now.

The first was laptop skins, and if you guys can see mine, the Shama.tv laptop skin right here? I’ve got tell you, so many people stop me and ask me, “Hey, what is that?” and, they’ll, you know, if I’m at a coffee shop I’ll have people sitting across from me who will actually go to that site, and they say, “Hey, I saw your videos.” So I can tell you it is an excellent marketing tool, and it’s so cheap. I mean, I think laptop stickers start at $10, so you definitely want to get a laptop sticker for your company.

The second idea he talks about is car graphics, and car graphics can actually come for less than $50. I didn’t know that. I am looking at doing this for my car, again with Shama.tv, and here’s something really funny. So I didn’t know how car graphics would look or not, but I went to the local mall – and Dallas is a big city, this doesn’t usually happen – and I think I saw a car outside with SticViews all over. Like they had, I think it was, I don’t know, it may have been the CEO’s car, but they had the SticViews stickers all over and it looked really nice. So I got up there close and personal and took a look. And so car graphics, especially if you are a local company, I think that would make a lot of sense.

The third one he talked about was custom stickers, and we’ve talked about custom stickers before on this show in terms of giving them out at trade shows and conferences and things of that nature. So that’s a cool one.

His fourth idea was storefront window signs. Of course this works really well if you’re a local business. I don’t really have an office front so that wouldn’t work, but if you have an office front, that would make a lot of sense.

His fifth idea was to decorate your office or have trade show graphics. I’m really, really intrigued by that because I’ve seen some pictures on their web sites with really cool, you know, full wall stickers, and so I’m going to look into doing that maybe even for my home office.

But here are some cool ideas. Now here’s what I want you to do. I want you to share your cool, wacky promotion idea – something like this, like the laptop stickers, that’s not often talked about. But if you have a promotional idea or a marketing idea that you use like that to get the word out about your company, go ahead and leave a comment and we will just let the CEO of SticViews pick the one he likes best, and you will get a laptop sticker.

another cool promo surface is the back of cell phones, but one that I’ve always found funny is the inside of the door in the stall of a restroom. Its just amazing the spaces we stare at while we are doing something else that makes a great place for an ad. My businss is promoting local businesses online with geo-targeting so even the thing that keeps your hand from getting too hot on a cup of coffee is a great place for a ad in my business.

I’m not sure what sticviews will adhere to, but I’m going out on limb by suggesting book covers, briefcases, laptop bags and luggage. RE: Book Covers – I’m always reading and take my book with me wherever I go. Would be cool to display my business name on a book. Looks like a cool product – I’ve bookmarked it!

  3. MouthyGirl says:

Hey I had one on the laptop I just replaced and it was awesome! I’m looking to get a new one too, this post was great timing.

You can see the one I designed previously here. I think it makes a laptop look more business related when you put on a custom skin like this, it certainly has gotten me some attention!

I think custom car graphics are cool and a great local marketing tool. Because I too live in DFW I’ve often thought of this to get the word out about my website, living in a large suburban area can really make a custom car graphic worth the expense.

  4. SticViews sound perfect for your tradeshow booth or conference presentation. You could put up all the info about you on a wall or table and it looks like a professional sign. But much easier to put away, roll up and store and travel with afterwards.

I also have to put in props for marketing with stickers. We were in a voting competition with our podcast and told listeners if they voted for us they could send in their address and we’d send them a free sticker. People LOVED it. We got so many people emailing for the free sticker I was pretty amused. Grownups still love getting stickers.

  5. T-Enterprise says:

Wish we had something like that in Scotland – maybe you guys deliver here??

What would be useful is a sticker for my laptop bag.

  6. Dylan Barber says:

Lots of tradeshow graphics as a colage sent to your best clients sort of a art and advertising thing in one – i think some bands and record promo companies do/did this with silkscreened posters

  7. Steve Lucas says:

I would think every fledgling band would want a few dozen “poster” sticviews to put up around town. They could post them, leave for a few days, then relocate them. If someone takes it and puts it somewhere else, all the better! The ultimate is sticky advertising.

You guys are doing a great job! I’ve got to get one for my laptop!!

  8. I don’t travel as much as I used to, but I could see having a SticView that attached to all the wheely onboard luggage. Think about how many peope would see that as you go through security lines, gate departures and the airport shopping hub itself.

  9. Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the comments and I look forward to giving a laptop skin to the lucky winner. Our skins stic to anything and come off clean. that’s the best part, they don’t mess up your gear. our cloth stic material is magic, being fabric it doesn’t stretch or tear so it can go up and down over and over and over again.

Let me know if you have any questions about our products. They are custom, unique graphics, at unbelievable low costs, as if you bought in bulk.

Let me know how we can help.

    Regards,
    Bryce Finnerty
    CEO, Sticviews Inc.

Wow! I knew my viewers were creative – but this just rocked. : )

I had a hard time picking a winner, but the most CREATIVE seems to be turning ads into art by Dylan Barber. Congrats Dylan!

Please email me and I will make sure you get your prize.

Keep entering guys! We give away a prize every week. : )
