btw, here are some good resources for facebook analytics

http://www.facebook.com/press/info.php?statistics
(general facebook stats)

http://apps.facebook.com/status-statistics/ (really cool app that allows you to view status statistics for you and your friends . . . e.g., if you want to know when your friends are online so you can post at a time they are likely to see it, this will tell you - although, currently the reporting time zone is currently set to Europe)

http://www.checkfacebook.com/ (more facebook demographic information)

I'm already planning a heist in anticipation of Facebook currency :)

A dynamic with the UPDATES INBOX is people have to intentionally click through to it. Honestly, I rarely click on my INBOX page unless it shows I have unread messages. Since UPDATES is hidden behind INBOX, very few people are likely to see your updates if you rely on them finding them under that tab.

What excites me is that Facebook includes Fan Page updates in the news stream. Your content can now appear when the user logs in right next to their friends updates.

For this to happen, however, you need to know your target market... e.g. when are they likely to login to Facebook (stay-at-home moms may login at different times then zealous computer programmers)? You've got a short window in which your update will appear above the fold in their news stream; time your messages strategically so they're seen!

I encourage picking three to five times a day to send valuable updates out.

Good tips. yes the updates being better visible is why i started a fan page for my Background rotation application. Side note though a URL does not have a backslash "\" it uses foreword slashes "/". i don't think a "\" will work in a URL
