Hi Shama,

Thank you for your video. You're right--the biggest difference is that Google ads are about solving problems and FB ads are about identity.

But that is just the beginning. For example, FB ads get the click often because of the image more than the content. And ironically, rough, "shot from the hip" images often do better than professional, slick images.

I think the real difference is understanding the culture of FB and figuring out how to interact within it. I think of it like traveling to a foreign country. I don't just barge in and starting acting American (Google-ian) when I'm in a new place. I first observe and figure out the social rules and then join in.

I love figuring out FB and how to make it work.

Thank you,

Julia

Google content ads and Facebook ads fall into the same marketing category for me: demand generation. Whereas search ads fulfill consumers' demand, content ads suggest products, services, and/or brands that they may not have thought of.

But the question is how effective facebook ads are?

I am a google adwords customer and have reasonably good response.

Though I have clicked (and sometimes purchased) something from google ad, I have yet to find a relevant ad from facebook.

What do you think?

Love your blog Shama!

The demographic information available from Facebook ads is incredible. Before, a marketer would have to buy a list from a magazine or do some intensive customer surveys to get that kind of information.
