I love Overnight Prints and you make some great suggestions. I hate flimsy business cards. But instead of a business card I created a bookmark. I wrote my first book and wanted something a little different to handout. That way if they use it it will always remind them about my book and what I do.

Thanks!! I'm a substitute teacher trying to get in with the districts around my area, and have considered leaving a business card with each teacher/school/administrator I come in contact with. Thank you for the advice on what to put on there! One question - for my title, do I leave it blank, put substitute teacher, or certified teacher? Right now I'm functioning as a sub, but ultimately I'd like to have my own classroom. Just curious what you think is the best strategy.

Moo.com is also a great resource for affordable business cards that, in my opinion, are of higher quality than vistaprint.

I think I'm going to have to agree with utilizing both sides of the card. While some people suggest leaving the back blank for notes, I feel like a business card is incomplete when it doesn't have anything printed on the back.
I also believe in investing on your business card and not just making a cheap looking one because it will reflect on you and your business. Great video and great blog! Will be coming back here to check for recent stuff.

Shama, Once I heard that good businessman never spend their money , So I had a business open and in relation to business cards, I checked and contacted all the free offers (free smaple) online, in the newspaper in the mag, and bill boards all around the world via etectronic media etc etc . I remember then,I have aarranged more then 10,000 business cards free of charge with in two weeks, and the funny thing was they all different to each other, so colourfull and so excited most important was they were free.
So one day my next door business owner asked me where have you printed those cards I said, from mexico, and they cheep and also new style, cuz every card were different, He liked it and gave me a order for 5000 cards, I charged him £400 and got him done with in 2 weeks from only usa. Then I choose the style which card I like and gave another order to the same companies wih the spell mistakeand then i got them again within 2 weeks free of charge, so it was a new idea of printing cards with spell mistake, and then in my town now many business owner following spell mistake cards and they lovin it lic Macd. lolz.

I really like your ideas and zen approach to your site. Here's my two cents-I'm an artist who paints portraits and landscapes, and I use MyMinicards.com where they have unique size cards (1.25x3) to show part of my artwork that covers the front. I use my business info for the back. It definately gets people's attention when I let them pick one. (You can have up to 100 different images, though I choose 5 different paintings to keep it simple). I would like to learn how to use these unique cards for more effective marketing, so I welcome any advice.

Business Cards as NOTE CARDS

The only point I can offer is that I have always found that the backside of the business card is where I always make a note of what was discussed, what was offered, and what was my followup for the contact. You CAN NOT do that on a business card that has AD SPACE on the back or which is laminated or covered. There is NO SPACE for the notes and the pen will not write on them. Why I use blank backs and unlamiated finishes on the back of my BIZCARDS.

I changed my name when I got married, mostly because it was more succinct, and I knew I was going to be shifting my professional identity so the change seemed appropriate. I think you are right about people identifying you with your first name, since that is just what you go by. The whole issue of last names for women is loaded, and it's difficult to not be making a political statement with your choice in the eyes of many women out there. There are just many women who have flash points about certain issues, and this is one of them.

Hey Shama,

This video was excellent but there are other alternatives out there for higher cardstock that are slightly more inexpensive than overnight. Check out http://www.ctmprints.com which has 16pt cardstock and also has the option to print GREEN!
