We do this to some degree with our golf course. We call it a tradeout. They supply something to us in exchange for membership.

Examples:
Tree trimming services
Furnace and ac maintenance
Sign painting

Cool i am currently doing something like this for my company. Someone claimed 3 videos i had on YouTube where his and he owned copyright, and DMCA’ed me. So i am trading with a copyright lawyer. I fix his computers, he defends me. Just so you know it was a programming HowTo video that i made myself so i owned everything in the video.

I think you have hit on a very big trend that we will see more of this year: bartering.

I just did my first bartering of services for a Twitter account launch and am very pleased with how it went.

Yeah its really interested idea and I had got chance to be the part of team and promoted a portal Swapedo.com where user were able to barter/swap or trader services by services, services by goods and goods by goods, Like I can offer the SEO services to new startups and get a new laptop in return of my services with certain agreements.

This idea and portal was take over by Mr. Richard former investor or probably the CEO of mySpace.com and they had revamped it with cool widgets and launched as Shopit.com
