Shama- Important stuff. Interesting to me too!
Reminds me of the first time Edison tried to create the light bulb, he failed. After making several changes, he tried again and failed. What made Edison different from most people is that he kept at it and after about 998 more attempts, he successfully created the very first light bulb. Edison’s persistence, drive, and determination changed our world forever.
Successful people never give up. They take focused action to see what works (or what doesn’t work) and then based upon the results, they make changes and try again. Over time, these people get successful results.
When asked about his unsuccessful inventions, Edison replied, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
I truly believe there is no substitute for hard work. Just like Edison, the harder you work, the more successful you get! Mitch Jackson
Robert Kiyosaki advised that his Rich Dad say’s its best to fail fast in order to make corrections and move on.

Great question Shama. I actually disagree a bit that failure is accepted as part of the course in the West/US vs. East.
In my experience working at Fortune 100 companies – it’s definitely the “talk” but not the “walk.” Few companies and leaders have the stomach to take the punches and role with it anyway.
My belief is we (globally) suppress, hide and deny those things we are not comfortable facing. Basically do I as an individual or do companies allow others to see the real me/real company essence?
In this age of social networking TRUST is at the core of everything. Being public about our failures is critical to gain trust, in this one marketers experience.
I’ll leave it at that for now.
Be well folks!
I agree with Jason Fried. It’s stupid and utterly ridiculous to clamor after “failing faster.” It’s among the many “sounds good, but it’s stupid” phrases we’re hit with. I don’t want to fail. I do, however, hope others chase it with all their might, especially those who aren’t trying to be remarkable.
I believe it is how you measure success and failure in the first place. One of my favorite and very simple definitions of success is from a legendary Basketball Coach: “Success comes from knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming”-John Wooden How do you measure success?
Above comments are truly inspiring.
I totally agree with you shama about how eastern and western people look at entrepreneurs and associated failures.I am from India and the ideal career for most people here is to work for big multinational corporations.
The fear of failure that causes huge embarrassment in the society prevents people from entering into entrepreneul journey. Inspite of this risk if someone dares, he wont last beyond the first failure.
