Transcript of the Email Marketing 101 Video
Hey guys welcome to Shama.TV! Quick question I got the other day: “Does email marketing still work?” Well let me tell you guys, it certainly does! Email marketing is not going away any time soon. Whether people check their Twitters or their Facebooks, they’re always going to check their email, so yes that’s always going to be a key component in marketing. In fact one of my own clients was telling me that the majority of their business comes from email. So if you’re doing social media, good for you, or if you have another form of marketing that’s great, but you really need to come back to the basics, and I feel weird saying this but email marketing is now traditional. And you really need to have a follow-up system, which is especially true if you have a bigger sale. So if someone comes on your site and buys a $5 - $10 product then that’s no big deal, but the bigger the sale the more the person needs to communicate with you and know that they’re getting their money’s worth. So it’s your responsibility to follow-up with them. Now I do not mean you should abuse their email! We’ve all gotten spam and we all know how I feel about that. So you don’t want to just take people’s business cards and add them to your mass-email list without their permission. You definitely want to have them opt-in for it first. So email marketing continues to be key, guys, please do not overlook this. Social Media Marketing is new and reaches a lot of people, but email marketing is tried, true, and very efficient.
Hi Shama, and greetings from Germany!
Speaking of email, I was on your Online Marketing Tips list and the last update is from July 14, 2009.
Have I missed anything or have you let go of this communication channel?
Hi Nik,
Germany, eh? : )
I have not let go of the newsletter – just took a small break due to the book I was writing. You should get a hot copy tomorrow! : )
Yes, email is here to stay. But the emergence of Google Wave will help companies to collaborate efficiently with this upcoming tools.
Thanks Shama, looking forward!
Thanks for this reminder. I really need to get back into e-mail marketing. Considering it ‘traditional’ and moving on to something new is my weakness !
